The job I lost
I worked 9 years for a bank in financial wealth management, was a manager, my managers boss asked to speak with me for a moment,it was 6:30am, I followed him to conf. room and not his office(first red signal) when we got to the conf.room, HR rep was there, legal rep was there and my mgrs boss who just asked me to follow him and then one other guy(security).
I was told that my job was being eliminated & that I will receive 9 months severance pay because I was an officer of the bank. I had just received back to back premier achievement awards for my work and then in 2 minutes I was escorted out of the building and had no job.
What it's like being unemployed
Horrible, I've sent hundreds of resumes out never get called for an interview and the one I did have, I had 3 and for sure thought I had the job, it was an entry level job for wire transfers and one I did in the past, they told me that they went with the guy with NO experience because they did not want me to be "not challenged" in my position, but I went on 3 interviews and wanted and showed interest in the position and this was a fairly new bank, growing and expanding, knowing that opportunities will be opening up in the future.
I felt comfortable taking an entry level position even though I was just a manager of a group of 20 for back-office reconcilement team, one that was new and one that I had to train all my employees as none of them ever did the job that they would now be asked to perform. I loved the position and thought I would be there for life and growing with the financial institution....boy and now they tell me on Friday June 4th that even though I was told I would be eligible for 13 weeks of mail in state UC benefits then 7 more when that was over, now after only 9 weeks into the first 13 I am done with receiving any UC benefit s and will not be receiving any more money unless the senate passes the extension, not only that, but I just found out I have a 14.5 yr old daughter that I have to pay child support for, yet I have no visitation rights, the state gives you no warning that you just received your last check,
Advice
- When you call your UC benefit representative, if you ask the same question to 3 different reps, you will get 3 different answers.
- That they have not a clue on your file so you have to always ask for a manager.
- In my case the manage praised her employee, yet the employee gave me erroneous information.
- There is nothing I can do now to appeal my child support decision, even though they gave me wrong information and my income is now zero, my child support payments can not be appealed, because a state employee told me I was eligible for 20 more weeks I did not appeal my payments and now I can.t because of them.
