Why I Was Fired
2 years ago I was called into the conference room repeatedly (the only one called in) because a co-worker I was close to was accusing my GM of sexual harassment. Each time I was walked past my GM. She was fired and he is still there. Since then I have been written up by him for several things that were blown way out of proportion and twisted around. I have now been fired for creating a hostile working environment for asking several times when I would be trained in the new computer system I was already supposed to be trained in and all my co-workers are already trained in. It made people uncomfortable, he said.
What Being Fired Has Been Like
This is the first time I have ever been fired. I have no idea what to put on any of the job applications that ask "have you ever been terminated and why". I feel like I have been hit by a train and still cannot fully understand it. If I had been fired for doing something wrong or messing up badly at work I would understand. I never even got a warning not to ask what the plan was for my training. I have a family to take care of and I might not even get unemployment while I am looking for work.
Advice
- If ever involved in a sexual harassment issue, even as a witness, start looking for another job.
