Definition: Online tutors work for internet based companies that offer help, within a variety of subject areas, to students of all ages. Many online tutor positions offer flexible hours. Most companies require a college education, teaching experience, and/or knowledge in the subject area they will be tutoring.

Online Tutor Jobs

  • Sylvan Online
    Part-time work from home for experienced math and reading teachers who are certified or previously certified in grades 3-9. They provide 6 hours of paid training on how to use their online, interactive instructional program.
  • Tutor.com
    Flexible hours for individuals who have graduated from, or are currently enrolled in a US or Canadian college or university. They should have strong content knowledge in English, math, science or social studies and should be able to teach concepts to students from the 4th grade level up to 1st year of college level.
  • Smart Thinking
    This site hires on a regular basis for a variety of different subject areas. Once hired and after completing the E-structor® Certification, which is an "online specific training program", tutors work a minimum of 9 hours per week on a fixed weekly schedule.
  • Tutor Vista
    Part-time and full-time openings for teachers who have a graduate degree in their subject and some experience in teaching or tutoring. The tutoring schedule is made up in advance and tutors are expected to be available for those hours on a regular basis.
