Definition: Federal Law requires employers to allow employees to serve jury duty with no repercussions in the work place.
Employers, however, are not required to pay employees for time not worked. So, even though employees are entitled to leave for jury duty, they may not be compensated other than what the state reimburses.
Businesses are strongly encouraged to pay an employee his/her regular wage for time spent in jury duty, but each state has different requirements for employers, and reimburses jurors (or doesn't) according to State Law for time, travel, and child care.
Check with your employer and/or your State Department of Labor for details of the jury duty leave benefits you may be entitled.
