MySpace and Job Search Privacy Tips

How to Change MySpace Privacy Settings

If you are a MySpace user and are concerned about employers (or others) seeing the personal information that you have on MySpace, you can change your MySpace privacy settings so only certain people, like your friends, can view your profile. Here's information on your MySpace privacy options and how to change the settings.

To Change MySpace Privacy Settings

  • Login or Click on Home if you are already signed in.
  • Click on Account Settings

Users Can Change Settings for:

  • Privacy
  • IM (Instant Message Privacy)

To Change Your Settings

Select the privacy options you want for your profile and for your MySpace IM.

Privacy Options for Your MySpace Profile:

  • My Friends Only
  • Public
  • Only Users Over 18

Privacy Options for MySpace IM:

  • No One Can IM
  • Only Friends Can IM
  • Anyone Can IM

Privacy Settings Can be Changed so:

  • Users must know your email address or last name to contact you.
  • Comments to your profile, blog, or photos are reviewed by you before they are posted.
  • Your online status is hidden from other users.
  • Users cannot email links to your photos from the site.
  • Only your friends can post comments on your blog entries.
