When you are applying for an entry level position a typical job interview question is "Why did you select your college or university?"

Here are sample interview answers which you can edit to fit your personal experiences and background:

  • I wanted to go to a small liberal arts college to have the opportunity to sample courses from a plethora of departments. I believe that a liberal arts background is key in today's diverse world and provides its recipients with a well-rounded education that can be applicable to numerous fields.
  • I chose to go to a university because I like being part of a large group. The world is a big place, just as my university, and the parallels between the two will better help prepare me for post college life. Also, my university has a really strong school of sciences and I wanted to study under the best minds in the country.
  • Starting at a community college was a good option for me. I felt that my high school did not properly prepare me for the rigorous course works I would be taking at a prestigious four-year institution. I used my two years here to develop the necessary skills to be successful at a four-year institution.
