Right to Work - Right to Work Law

Definition: Right to work laws prohibit employers and labor unions from requiring membership in a union as a condition of employment, either before being hired or after the employee has started work.

There are currently 22 states with right to work laws. State with right to work laws in place include: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota,Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming.

If you work in one of these locations, union membership cannot be required as a condition of employment.
