What's new with LinkedIn? LinkedIn shared news and updates today during a "Meet the New LinkedIn" event. The company announced many new features and one of the most important for job seekers is a new, enhanced profile. You'll see a new version of your LinkedIn profile starting today.
The revamped version of your profile is simpler and easy to edit, you can edit it inline, you'll get easy to follow recommendations for enhancing your profile, and you can see the endorsements (which are also new) you have received from your connections. Take a look at your profile to see how much more visually appealing it looks. Then click on "Improve Your Profile" to get started.
LinkedIn also shared some facts and figures which show how tremendously the site is growing as it continues to be the premiere site for professional networking. As of October, 2012 LinkedIn has:
- 175 million members
- 2 million company pages
- 1 million groups
- 5 billion searches this year
As LinkedIn continues to grow exponentially, it's even more important to continually update your profile - many members do it daily, so you can get found by hiring managers. Do remember to turn off your activity feed if you don't want your current employer to know that you're working on your profile - it could be a red flag that you're thinking about moving on.
