Companies Still Hiring Seasonal Staff

nullCareerBuilder reports that companies are still hiring extra staff for the busy holiday season with 33% of employers surveyed reporting that they recruit for open positions in November. 11% said they may still be recruiting in December.

Here are the types of jobs that companies hire for this time of year:

  • Customer Service - 30%
  • Administrative/Clerical support - 16%
  • Shipping/Delivery - 15%
  • Technology - 12%
  • Inventory management - 10%
  • Non-retail sales - 9%
  •  Accounting/Finance - 8%
  • Marketing - 8%

What can you expert to earn?  More than half of employers (53%) reported they will pay $10 or more per hour to seasonal staff, up from 48% last year.  14% will pay $16 an hour or more.

How can you find out which companies are still hiring? It's easy to search for and apply for seasonal jobs online.

In-person job applications are also accepted by many companies, especially smaller retailer. Take a walk through the mall and you'll see help wanted signs in store windows.
