Professional networking site LinkedIn has reached a major milestone - 80 million members and there's a new person joining every second. That's a huge pool of potential networking connections who can help with your job search.
LinkedIn has also released an updated version of Company Follow. Over 30 million professionals are following over a million companies and if you're not following companies you're interested in, now is a good time to get going.
Changes include a redesigned page and better customization, including blog posts, jobs, company news, corporate twitter feeds and other company updates.
What you'll see for each company is more personalized, so you can see your first and second degree connections while researching the company, as well as more information on the daily activity of that company on LinkedIn.
In addition, there's a new Career Tab for both companies and professionals. You'll be able to find out more about the company and about available job opportunities.
For example, take a look at the LinkedIn company page and you'll see how you're connected to LinkedIn, jobs that you might be interested in, and insight into employees who work at LinkedIn.
To follow companies you have an interest in and to get the latest updates, click the star icon at the top right of the company page.
If you're not using LinkedIn yet, or if are, but not using it to its full advantages, here's how to use LinkedIn as part of your job search, including how to increase your visibility and connections, so employers and recruiters can find you.
