The job I lost
I worked on the construction industry for many years; I have been out of work for almost two years. My wife works, but with two kids in college it has been very difficult.
I get very upset when I read that Obama created jobs and that the unemployed got confortable being home, that is not true. PLEASE tell me where I can find a job. I applied in Canada; New Orleans, Texas and Illinos where I live but no one calls or return my emals. I am desperate to find a job and being 51 years old is not helping me when I am competing for a job with a younger kid.
So if President Obama create jobs, where are the jobs?
What it's like being unemployed
Lonely, lost my so called friends.
I get mad very easy; I get desperate.
People tell me I need to go out and find something because I looked depressed. But I am tired telling them that I can't find a job. I am a hard working person, not lazy like some call us, but I feel that all the doors are closed on my face.
The friends that I used to have are not there for me any more.
Advice
- Go back to school and get a higher education, at my age it has become very difficult. No money to pay for any special training or school.
- All my money goes to my kids school; mortgagee and what ever we need. There are no luxuries like we had in the past, no weekend dinners at nice restaurant but we learn to cook at home with the family.
