The job I lost

I lost my job due to illness in November of 2007. I have applied for any type of job I could find, but to no avail. My hard work has not paid off.

I am really sick of people saying I should try harder to find a job. If I am applying for an average of 10 jobs a week and have done so for more than two years, would someone please tell me what other options I have?!

I have a BA in Psychology, AS in Criminal Justice, 3 semesters of Radiography, 3 years in health care, 2 years in business to business sales, and over 6 years of customer service experience.

What it's like being unemployed

I hit a very low point this past October. I started to become very depressed. People don't have a clue as to how much of one's self worth is based on being able to take care of yourself and family. Once that is taken away, one could begin to feel worthless.

Advice

  • I am so happy that I was raised with God and Jesus in my spirit. I have learned to do all I can do and leave the rest to God and Jesus. This is a situation I have no control over.
  • People need to have a daily plan and schedule, spending at least 2 to 3 hours a day focused on his or her job search. That could include internet, face to face networking, and scanning yellow pages for employment agencies
  • People should locate groups or forums in their area where people get together and talk about their job searches and possible networking techniques.
  • Understand you aren't alone
