The job I lost
My husband, a civil engineer lost his job a few week after I did. Both of us were middle class Americans with college degrees. We have sought opportunities all over US and internationally. They are just not hiring. We hope that the unemployment benefits will continue to allow us to escape poverty. However, now they are terminating all state unemployment benefits before we even had a chance to claim it. This is so unfair as we have not even touch this money and now it's gone. I don't understand the heartless politicians that are vetoing the benefit. Do they not understand that this will devaste our country?
What it's like being unemployed
Unemployed really sucks (for a lack of words). I've sent out hundreds of resumes and no one had the compassion to let me know their decision. And yet the same ads are still circulating on job search sites.
Advice
- Try not to get laid off if u can. Suck it up. The grass is not greener. It's really a swamp with alligators.
- All u can do is persevere. Can not let them defeat u or devalue ur experience and self worth.
