The job I lost
I have worked (hard) my entire life. I have never even considered unemployment as an option. I became pregnant this year while I was working as a bartender, although I am educated, I could not find a job in my field and took a bartending job due to a move.
Despite the fact that I continued to perform 100% they fired me for misc. reasons. I knew it was because I was pregnant, but after some research, I realized there was nothing I could do.
What it's like being unemployed
Well, it makes me feel very helpless but I have to say that it is nice now that I am in my 7 month of pregnancy. I would have had no problem working until now (I was fired when I was 3 months preg) but I am thankful that I can be home and get the house and nursery ready for my baby.
Advice
- I think the best advice I can give is that during anyone's time of unemployment, they should utilize that time to think about what changes they need to make in their life in order to be where they want to be in 10 yrs. It's about taking small steps and getting a bigger pay-off later. There is no such thing as instant success
