The job I lost
Kaiser Permanente hospital finds ways to get rid of 95% of any one over 60 years of age. I was forced into unwilling retirement after over 11 years @ Kaiser. I've used up my 99 weeks of benefits, I am almost 67 years of age cannot find a job, cannot afford to retire nor do I wish to retire at this time. I have job skills (trained others @ Kaiser) I do not look or act my age, I am willing to work hard and learn new things. I feel if I could have an 5th extension to get the financial pressure off things will get better and I will find a way to make money or find a job paying me so I will not be homeless. TKS
What it's like being unemployed
I feel lost, I took a lot of pride working for Kaiser Pernanente hospital. I am almost 67 years of age I had not even given any thought to retirement @ time of job loss. I feel a lot of pressure to find a job and with all the competition out there it is difficult but not impossible to find a new job.I like so many others am struggling to pay rent, utilities, food & gas. I raised 4 children on my own after a divorce of over 21 years of marriage so I was not able to save money. I was finally getting to the point of saving, kids grown & out of collage and I lose my job @ kaiser. Now I have to start all over.
