How I was discriminated against
I am over 50 with years of experience in my field, and have not received one phone call for work.
What it's like being an older or younger job seeker
My last employer was a large company that I worked with for 5 years and the whole department was phased out. I have been looking for work since 2008. Applications now ask for year of high school grad. and will not allow you to move until answered. If you lie, you could be fired for having lied on applications. Cannot find work. What do people over 50 do to find work? I have written my senators for help.
In the meantime, how do we eat and pay the mortgage when unemployment ends? Please bring back our jobs, it will help everyone find employment! Even people over 50!!!!!
Lessons Learned
- I have been working since I am 13, I would have stayed with first employer, and retired by now. Back in the 70's companies were loyal to employees and employees were loyal to them. That does not exists any longer.
