My Boss Said I Might be Too Old

How I was discriminated against

The last job I had was in Carson City, Nevada.

My boss said in front of my husband and I, that I might be too OLD for the position. I was shocked he said that, and so was my husband. I would even bring work home to keep up with the work load, and NEVER charged the company overtime.

I tried to get a attorney to file a complaint against the company, but no attorney would fight it.

I'm 56 years old, and I never thought I would be told I was too OLD for a position. Then when he let me go, he called me a scum bag, I made him say it twice. I never in my life been called that, nor did I know what it meant.

What it's like being an older or younger job seeker

It's HARD to be 56 years old and competing with the younger generation. We never had computers in high school when I was a kid. The younger generation had computers in kindergaten. They have had more computer experience than I, they go faster, than I. They also have an attitude that I'm old and can't do the job.

Lessons Learned

  • NOTHING, nobody wants to help you. The just want to call you OLD, e-mail you and say YOU are a OLD WOMAN.
