- Ask everyone you know for help but not for a job
- Don't put all your eggs in one basket - diversify the job search
- Cast a wide net - be flexible to changing industries and fields and relocating
- For the unemployed, use your "free time" to learn new technical skills and foreign languages
- Focus on finding contacts instead of just jobs to apply for
- As much as it is a pain, tailor resumes and cover letters to each position
- Spend each day doing at least one of the above and schedule meetings, attend seminars/conferences, network
- Don't search for a job 24/7 to avoid burnout
