What Happened During The Interview?
I met a potential sales rep at a McDonalds as I was traveling through his area and it was too far for him to drive to our home office. It was a straight commission position. He immediately began the interview by telling me that our "numbers" did not add up to what he could potentially make on a monthly basis. Every time I tried to explain the pay structure he would cut me off and continue on with his rant. He then began to bad-mouth the company product and said he would never purchase the product.
How Did the Interview Turn Out?
After 5 minutes I realized that this was not the guy for our company, and after 15 minutes of his whining I couldn't take it anymore. I finally got up, put on my coat, shook his hand, thanked him for his time and left him sitting with his Latte.
Advice
- 1. If you don't like the employer or the employers products or services, save everyone the time and just say so instead of accepting an interview.
- 2. NEVER bad-mouth a product or service of a potential employer during your interview.
- 3. If the interviewer is speaking, keep quiet and listen.
