I Had to Watch The Other Person Have the Interview of Her Life

What Happened During The Interview?

I went for an interview (on a holiday) and found that someone else had been scheduled to interview for the same job at the same time. The interviewer had me sit in a waiting area right outside and facing his windowed office while he interviewed the other woman with the door wide open so I could hear and see everything. The two of them realized they knew someone in common and hit if off immediately. I had to watch this other person have the interview of her life while I sat there, knowing there was no way I was going to get that job. I considered just getting up and leaving but figured I should see it through.

How Did the Interview Turn Out?

After my interview (which did not go nearly as well as the other woman's, especially since my self-confidence was totally shot at that point), I never heard from them again -- not even a call to say I hadn't gotten the job.

Advice

  • If the people or company you're interviewing with is totally unprofessional, odds are you wouldn't want to work there anyway. But every interview experience provides valuable experience for the next time.
