I Had to Flag a Guard Down

What Happened During The Interview?

So the interviews (1 by phone and 1 in person) were all set via email. When told to come in for the face to face I was asked what day and time worked best. I stated Monday because I worked 9pm-7am Tuesday night through Friday night. So they go ahead and schedule the interview for Wednesday at 10:30am!

I was told someone from HR would meet and give me a tour. I show up and no one is there. I have to flag a guard down and have him let someone know I am there. Instead of HR an hourly individual took me on my tour in jeans and a T shirt and didn't heistate to curse often.

How Did the Interview Turn Out?

So I get to the interview room and the interviewers came in and didn't even think about offering me anything to drink so I am trying to think and talk with extreme dry mouth. After the first interview I ask for water and instead of a bottle I get a styrofoam cup about 1/2 full. And this is a multibillion dollar company LOL. During the next interview the Manager decides I'm not qualified pretty early however proceeds to explain the compensation package? Very little eye contact and kind of rude. I most likely will not accept the job if offered.

Advice

  • Bring your own bottled water or if ask for some if not offered before the interview begins. Dehydration drops the IQ and a dry mouth will destroy your confidence.
  • Don't be afraid to end an interview on your own if you are told you are not qualified early into it. Your time is precious and those kinds of statements mean they have made their minds up based off something other than your qualifications.
