How I was discriminated against
I got an occupational disease from my line of work, carpal tunnel in both hands and shoulder impingement and was fired after trying to get workmans comp to get surgeries to repair it. And I worked there for around 10 years.
Describe what happened
I went to put a claim in for workmans comp and my boss said he's not gonna let me do it because he shouldn't have to. I then got a workmans comp lawyer and went after him for my benefits and was awarded some money but didn't get my medical issues taken care of. Then after I won the case I got a letter in the mail from my boss telling me to remove all my tools and belongings from the shop. He fired me with no reason other than I got hurt at work and settled my work mans comp case. Now I have a disability certificate saying I can't do my job anymore and have to get a different career other than working on cars. I have no clue what to do.
Lessons Learned
- I don't know what to do now and need help with finding out if I can do anything about this.
