How I was discriminated against
I am a 59 year old male of East Indian descent. I worked for my employer for the past 33 years, maintaining a 60 unit multi-family residential building.
Recently I was denied a promotion for the third time in a row although I am well suited for the position. My employer is constantly giving the job to people of Caucasian descent, who are far less qualified than me.
I feel I was once again denied the promotion to supervisor because management's preference is for people of a certain specific racial group.
Describe what happened
I have union seniority, experience, job training, an exceptional track record, certificates, diplomas, licenses, and an Assosciates degree in management. I am certified by the Building Performance Institute to manage any multi-family building in the country. How can I not be good enough for the job?
Lessons Learned
- You are never too old to learn. Job discrimination is everywhere.
