Why I Was Fired
I was fired because I was out of ratio with 1 child being a special needs child. I know that the teacher ratio was 1 to 19, but with a special needs child there should be two of us in the classroom. My Director told me that I was liability to her daycare and she did not need my services anymore. Therefore; I was terminated. Terminated because the special needs child ran out of the classroom up to the front office being that my classroom was open to the public to see with no doors. I felt like I was set up for failure. I was not certified for the child besides an hour training on his G-tubing, hearing and seeing disabilities.
What Being Fired Has Been Like
I was in shock because I was one of the most exciting, loving, caring workers there for the kids and I always had something for them to do. My boss would always ask me what have I done to insult my intellegence and yells when she see something out of place. She didn't realize how hard it is when you're the only teacher in the room at times. I feel relieved actually because it was stressful at times, but it is hard to find a nice job knowing after all my schooling I can't settle for anything. Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my talent and time just considering daycare, department stores and any old kind of jobs not in my field because I have to pass a Teaching test. The test is 160 dollars even if you fail it, you must pay it again to re-take it. Most people can do so, but I have bills for days. Unemployment is taking forever. I am blessed to be away from the center, but I need work now and its only been a week and 1 day.
Advice
- My advice to whomever is in this situation just to speak up to get help in the classroom -- even though I tried that, but try harder. Another thing is to be aware of your surroundings and know your responsibilities. Stay to yourself because people are fake and not honest. Stay true to yourself and be better than you think you are.
