Why I Was Fired
I was the Enterprise Sales Manager for a 28 year franchise of New Horizons Computer Learning Centers for Oregon and Washington. My team of sales personnel worked with large Private enterprises, as well as Local, State, and Federal Government Agencies.
I recommended that we offer incentives to them to keep them sending their employees to us for training. I saw that given the economic circumstances of February 2009, as well as projecting the direction of the economy that this was necessary to continue our cash flow.
What Being Fired Has Been Like
It was devastating emotionally. As most employers considered me to be "over qualified" for the positions they had available. I realize that they were utilizing that phrase as on out for the fact that I was 65 years old.
Advice
- Keep your mouth shut, even if your suggestions might allow the company to maintain clients during these tough economic times.
