Babysitting Job

From Jayne

What I Did:

I was taking classes at a college campus and saw an advertisement for a after-school babysitting job during the school year. The flyer listed an e-mail address to contact if you were interested, so, I sent an e-mail with my resume as an attachment and included my phone number, as well. The woman called me to arrange an interview, and I got the job! It's easy hours and a lot of fun.

How I Did It:

I didn't hesitate in e-mailing the lady as soon as I saw the flyer. Also, I was outgoing and personable, and cleared my schedule so I could meet with her as soon as possible. I provided positive references and was honest about the times that I wouldn't be able to work. My job is working out great.

Advice

  • If you see a flyer, respond to it as soon as possible! Don't wait, because other people could be getting in touch as well.
  • If you're reply by e-mail, attach your resume as long with references. It shows you're really interested in getting the job.
  • Be polite and courteous at all times.
  • Dress modestly at the interview. Also, bring a copy of your resume and list of references for your interviewer. That way they'll have everything on hand.
  • Make sure your actually interested in getting the job, and it's a good fit for you. A job like babysitting isn't for everyone.
