Unemployment Discrimination

By , About.com Guide

Definition: Unemployment discrimination is discrimination against unemployed workers. Companies who post job ads stating that an individual must be "currently employed" to apply or companies that do not hire applicants who are unemployed are discriminating against those who are unemployed.

The American Jobs Act, would help protect those who are unemployed from discrimination. If passed, it would be an unlawful employment practice for a business with 15 or more employees refused to hire a person because they are unemployed.
