Definition: A first interview is typically the first step in the hiring process. A first interview is conducted to screen applicants to determine if they are qualified for the job for which the company is hiring.
First interviews may be be conducted over the phone or in-person. In either case, the results of the interview will determine if the candidate moves to the second round of the interview process.
