Definition: A dislocated worker (displaced worker) is a person 20 years of age or older who either left or lost his or her job because the company closed, relocated, abolished their position or shift, or did not have enough work to give the employee.
Workers who are terminated from employment due to unsatisfactory job performance are not considered displaced workers.
Examples:
After the plant shut down, hundreds of displaced workers were without jobs.
