Definition: A cold contact cover letter is a document sent with your resume to companies that have not advertised job openings.

Sending a letter to companies that you are interested in working for, but have not listed an open job that you're qualified for provides an opportunity to be considered by the company for employment.

A cold contact cover letter should explain the reason for your interest in the specific organization and identify your most relevant skills or experiences. It should contain information on what you can offer the organization and why you would be a good fit for the company.
