Funeral Directors manage funeral services and funeral homes. They meet with families to determine their preferences for services and structure arrangements accordingly. Funeral directors transport the remains of the deceased and prepare bodies for viewing, burial or cremation.

Funeral Directors help to process death certificates, verifications for insurance, veteran's benefits, social security and other official paperwork associated with the passing of the deceased. They hire, train and supervise staff and perform other management functions related to finance and marketing.

Funeral Director Salaries

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, funeral directors earned an average of $54,140 in 2010. The top 10% of funeral directors earned at least $98,340, while the bottom 10% earned $29,890 or less.
