Advertising Sales Agents sell advertising space or time to clients. They develop contact lists of potential clients and reach out by phone, email, mail or in person to set up meetings to pitch their advertising outlets.
Advertising sales agents analyze the products and services that prospective customers need to promote, and the consumer niches that clients would like to penetrate. They conduct presentations highlighting how their advertising space and time could help clients to meet their sales goals.
Advertising sales agents work for newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations/networks and internet companies. They conduct most of their meetings outside the office, often on the premises of clients. Advertising sales agents interface with owners and general managers of small companies as well as advertising/marketing managers of larger companies and media buyers for advertising agencies.
