Interviewing for a dot.com job? Here are the questions (courtesy of Dave Braken, Wetfeet.com)  that you should ask interviewers about the company history/business:

What is the story behind the company?
or Describe the company's history.

(This will give you a pretty good intro on the background of the founders and will typically expose the mission of the company.) The founders background and personalities will help to paint a picture to the job seeker of the corporate culture.

Who are the investors behind the company?
This will tell you what the subconscious goals of the company are. Did these investors bring their other clients to successful IPO's? Acquisitions? or Did they Bomb?

Where is the revenue stream for the company? This will help you to see what the target consumer market is and may possibly help in determining a valuation of the company.

Who composes the senior management team? What are their backgrounds?

What stage of fund raising is the company in?
 or What is the financial status of the company?

What is the company's exit strategy?
Acquisition? Merger? IPO?

What is the company's position in the market space?

What is the potential consumer market for the industry?

What is the hiring plan?
(Determine if they are building down or building up)

How many rounds of financing will the company go through?

If you're at the offer stage:
How many stock options are outstanding? What is the starting stock price?

How does your company measure success?
What are the metrics: Page views, consumer members, corporate or Business to Business members/customers, revenue?

What makes your product or service different from the competition (must understand the competition too!)?

Is the technology used / sold standard or will it become a new standard in the market space?
 If different, how will you introduce this new technology to consumers?
