Most universities and colleges offer graduate research assistant positions for students pursuing a Ph.D., a J.D., a M.D., a Master's, or a similar postgraduate degree.

Graduate research assistants are often employed on a temporary basis, depending on the type of work they are involved in. But, most graduate research assistants work closely with faculty supervisors, allowing them to develop fruitful positive relationships that come in useful down the career line.
