The Apprentice

The Apprentice

NBC, Inc.
Survivor, The Apprentice, and American Idol are just a few of the reality television shows that you can find on just about every channel. Sometimes even the so-called losers, like American Idol's William Hung from a few seasons ago, end up winners. Hung, for example, charmed fans across the country and signed a record contract with Fuse Music Network and KOCH Records.

In many cases, the competitors for these programs are selected at open casting calls and auditions. The Apprentice, for example, held open casting calls for the dream job of a lifetime in New York, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, Little Rock, Miami, Cleveland and other cities around the country. Would be apprentices had to download an application in advance and arrive early to get a wristband. The Simple Life looked for host families, while American Idol auditions are held at locations throughout the United States.

Be Prepared for a Casting Call

For many would-be stars the opportunity to apply at an open casting call may be the only chance for fame and fortune, so, be prepared for long lines and fierce competition. Over 2000 professionals arrived at the first open call for second season of The Apprentice in Burbank. In some cases, especially with popular shows like American Idol, the lines start the day or evening before. Only a limited number of wristbands are given out. Last time American Idol held auditions in New York there were a limited number wristbands and thousands of applicants.

So, arrive early for the best shot of getting an audition. If you need to bring paperwork, like an application, identification, or proof of age, make sure you have everything you need and it is complete. If you're among the lucky future stars who do get to audition, you may not be selected on the spot, so, be prepared to return for a second audition. Otherwise, keep your eye on the casting call listings for another chance to apply or audition.

Don't wait for a talent scout to discover you. It's probably not going to happen regardless of how gifted you are. Instead, turn your fifteen minutes of fame into a chance at a lifetime of success!
