Companies conducting background checks, Googling applicants, checking them out on Facebook, and finding out as much as they can about candidates for employment seems to be the norm, these days.
However, it works both ways. You can find out about companies, as well, to make sure the company is one you want to work for and the job is a good fit for your experience and skills.
LinkedIn Company Profiles are a good way to find more information on a company you're interested in working for. You'll be able see your connections at the company, new hires, promotions, jobs posted, related companies, and company statistics. One Day One Job has good information on digging dirt on employers, as well.
Visit GlassDoor.com to read company reviews, ratings, company information, salaries, CEO approval rating, competitors, content providers, and more company information.
Follow the company on Twitter to find out what information the company is sharing. Also, search Google, Google News, and Twitter using the company name, to see what comes up.
Also, there are warning signs to watch for, if you're having reservations about whether this is the company for you.
Taking the time to research companies is a good idea, because it is as important for you to know that you want to work at a company as it is for the company to know they want to hire you. And it's better to find out upfront, rather than finding out later that your new job wasn't anything like you expected and you have to start your job search all over again.

I think fudging a resume is natural. The capital of America is the capital of lies. No one there is qualified to do anything yet they run this country. Now days jobs are pumping a lot of money into job training programs reinterrating job skills employees should already have. I think a person who can basically con his/her way into the position should have the opportunity to work it, again the White House is a prime example. People graduating college, not getting jobs is in heard of. I use the capital as a guidance for everything and if they can utilize fudged resumes and the “good ol boy system” to score a decent job than who cares what the little man on the pole does. Police them, not us. Let them set the standards and we’ll follow, but I will say there is a fat chance of them ever doing that. To conclude I think this website should disassemble. Worry about your own morals and ethics, not mine. Those of us who do fudge our “life experiences” are good hard working people who just want that once in a lifetime opportunity. If we get it because we were smart enough to say we have, instead of we haven’t then so be it. I’m an example of the dishonest resume, and I can say without regret, especially when I look at my family and see how I provide for them, that I would do it again if needed. In fact I’ve helped several people fudge their resumes to get decent jobs, which by the way are few and far I between. Your truly, Dishonest Abe.
Its difficult to get an interview if you dont list that you have a degree. Even if you are over qualified for the job without the degree.
