nullReferral cover letters are used when you mention someone who is referring you for a job.  When you have a referral, your resume is more likely to get a closer look, because recruiters and hiring managers give weight to candidates recommended by people they know.

When you have been referred to a potential employer, it's important to mention the person who referred you by name, as well as how you know them, in the first paragraph of your cover letter.
