Hurricane Sandy Clean Up Jobs

New York State Clean Up Jobs

New York State has received federal Disaster National Emergency Grant (NEG) funds. The grant will be used to hire workers who lost their jobs as a direct result of Hurricane Sandy in Bronx, Kings, New York, Richmond, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland and Westchester counties to help clean up impacted communities.

To be eligible, workers must be unemployed as a result of Hurricane Sandy or unemployed and not receiving unemployment benefits or other types of income support. Those interested should call 1-888-4-NYSDOL (1-888-469-7365).

New Jersey Clean Up Jobs

New York State has received federal Disaster National Emergency Grant (NEG) funds. The grant will be used to hire workers who lost their jobs as a direct result of Hurricane Sandy. The hiring criteria is the same as for NY. Job seekers should report to local One-Stop Career Centers, send an email message to sandyhelp@dol.state.nj.usa, visit www.Jobs4Jersey.com or call 1-877-682-6238 or 1-800-233-5005.

Job Search Engines

The job search engines are a good way to find hurricane clean up job listings and companies are hiring workers for a variety of recovery and restoration jobs.

When you use the Advanced Search options, you'll be able to search by type of position and narrow the results to include only relevant job listings in the location where you want to work.

Here's how to search for hurricane clean up jobs on the job search engines.

Indeed.com:

Use Indeed.com's main search page to search by keyword "hurricane" or "hurricane clean up" and the location where you want to work.
Or, click on Advanced Job Search or go directly to Indeed.com's Advanced Job Search page.
Select a Location.
Add Keywords: hurricane, clean up jobs, hurricane clean up, restoration, etc.
Click Find Jobs.
You will get the most results if you search by state.

SimplyHired.com:

Enter "hurricane" as a keyword and a location (city, state or zip code) on SimplyHired.com
Click on Search All Jobs.
You will get the most results if you search by state.

Google:

Search using "hurricane jobs" and, optionally, include a location. Google automatically knows your location, so the search results will include jobs where you are currently location. For jobs in other cities or states, add that location to your search query. For example: hurricane clean up jobs New York.
