Veterans Day, November 11, is the day which honors all who serviced in the military. This year, Veterans Day falls on a Sunday, so the legal holiday will be Monday, November 12, 2012.
Not all employees are eligible to get the day off from work, to be paid for the holiday, to receive vacation pay if you take the day off, or to be paid overtime if you work extra hours this holiday weekend.
The Federal Government provides employees with nine paid holidays each year. Private sector employees may provide holidays off or holiday pay for working on a holiday, but they are not required to pay you extra for time worked on a holiday or to give you the day off from work.
