If you're job hunting, plan on spending some time job search networking at social events. From the job search etiquette perspective, it's definitely acceptable to tell people you meet at a BBQ, on the beach, or at another social event that you're in the midst of a job search.
Job search networking isn't as hard as you may imagine - it's just a matter of working your job search into the conversation at the appropriate time. In fact, just about any social event is a terrific way to mix business with pleasure and to take advantage of a chance to boost your job search.
