Monster's Veteran Talent Index reports that both veteran job seekers and employers are losing confidence in the ability to find the right employment match. One of the issues is translating military skills to workplace skills in a way that will help the veteran relay their military experience to jobs in a civilian workplace.
Less than half of veterans believe they are qualified to transition even though 75% of the veteran respondents believe that the skills they obtained while in the military are relevant to civilian careers. Employers do value the skills that they believe veterans bring to the job, including self-discipline, teamwork, confidence, respect, and the ability to meet deadlines and about 99% of employers surveyed recommended hiring veterans.
Monster has a variety of resources for both veteran job seekers and employers to help make the transition easier, including job listings, a military skills translator, a career network for veterans and a series of career expos for veterans.
There are also other sites which focus on helping veterans translate into the workforce, including sites where you can search for jobs by MOS, MOSC, Rating or Designator. Here's more about jobs for veterans.
