I was lucky enough to get my first part time job because my mom shopped several times a week in our local grocery store and she heard they needed staff.
I worked part time during high school, full-time during the summer, and during breaks from college. Two of my three brothers ended up working in the store, too. My other brother worked in the drug store across the street which, of course, was also frequented by my mom on a regular basis.
If you're interested in a part time job, they can be easier to find than full time positions and they aren't just for younger workers. Part time jobs are available for teens, college students, moms, retirees, and anyone seeking to earn extra money.
You can find a job like I did, by networking, but job postings are also available online and many companies that hire part time workers accept in person job applications.
Applying for a part time job is a little different from applying for a full time professional position. You should follow these basic rules, especially when applying in person.
