My stepson's girlfriend just got a part-time job at Target. She noticed a sign that said Target.com/careers in the foyer while she was shopping. Since she didn't have time to apply in-person at the store, she applied online when she got home.
She didn't hear back immediately, but a few weeks later she received a call to schedule a job interview and was hired shortly thereafter.
I noticed the same sign in Target the other day. I also saw a sign in the window of Barnes and Noble, a sign on the door of our local convenience store, and signs in the windows of several stores at the mall.
When you're job searching, especially for a part-time job or a job in retail or hospitality, it's important to keep your eyes open and to check for "help wanted" signs. Companies may not be advertising online, but that doesn't mean they don't have job openings.
Before you apply, take a few minutes to review retail job interview questions and answers, because you may be invited for an on-the-spot interview if you apply in-person. Make sure you're dressed appropriately, be prepared to complete a job application, and bring a copy of your resume, just in case you're asked for it.
