Another indicator is out showing that the 2011 job market is continuing to improve. Indeed's April Industry Employment Trends reports the highest job posting levels so far in 2011 for 10 of the 13 industries Indeed.com tracks.
April 2011 Job Postings
- Accounting - 7%
- Construction - 13%
- Education - 11%
- Financial Services and Banking - 1%
- Healthcare - 21%
- Hospitality - 12%
- Human Resources - 11%
- Information Technology - 10%
- Manufacturing - 21%
- Media - 5%
- Real Estate - -17%
- Retail - 16%
- Transportation - 25%
Real Estate, the only industry with a decline in April, had a significant drop - 17%. This is indicative of the troubled housing market, which is showing little improvement.
Sophie Beaurpere, Director of Communications, Indeed, projects a continued increase in job postings for the rest of the year: "As a leading indicator for the job market, Industry Employment Trends on Indeed.com showed employer hiring demand increasing last year. Since March 2010, this trend has been reflected in 13 straight months of private sector hiring gains. Our April report indicates momentum in the job market is continuing and we expect further improvements in the hiring environment through 2011."
In conjunction with the improvement in the job market, more employees are testing the waters and starting a job search. Deloitte reports that 65% of employees are job searching to, at least, see what opportunities might be available for them. If you're thinking about a new job, it's a good time to start looking. Here's how to start a job search.
