If you were unemployed last year or even if you were working, but you spent time job searching, you may be able to deduct some of your job search expenses.

If you searched for a job in the same line of work you're currently in, many of your expenses like phone calls, the costs of preparing and copying your resume, travel expenses, and career counseling are deductible. These tax tips for job seekers will help you make sure that you get all the tax benefits you're entitled to.

If you were out of work last year, CompleteTax is offering free Premium-level federal online tax preparation for 2010 income tax returns to anyone who was unemployed and collected unemployment benefits for any period of time last year.  Here's more information on tax software from About.com's Guide to Financial Planning, Shelley Emblad.
