nullEven though this is still a challenging job market on many fronts, job seekers and employees are feeling more positive about it, according to a new survey from Monster.com.

Charles Purdy, Monster.com career-advice expert says "We've seen for a while now that skilled jobs are on the rise. And as the economy starts to get back on its feet, we believe that they'll continue to be in demand, making 2011 the year of the new job -- but not just any job. Now, workers are looking for positions that inspire them and challenge them to rise to the occasion. At the same time, employers are increasingly looking to hire the best people for open roles, not just settling for a 'good enough' candidate."

Responses to the Monster + Hotjobs survey include:

  • 61% of poll respondents said work would be more of a priority in 2011
  • 66% of job seekers wished for a new job with a new employer
  • 42% respondents were hopeful and expected job or employment conditions to improve
