As I've mentioned before, Simply Hired is on my list of favorite job search engines.  Besides being a great site to find job listings, with over 7 million current listings, Simply Hired is a great place to work.

SimplyHired.com won the Bay Area News Group's top place to work award in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Simply Hired earned the top spot by providing employees with catered lunches, massages, a fully-stocked fridge,  and even more importantly, a great work environment.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Dion Lim, president and COO at SimplyHired.com, who shared Simply Hired's recipe for workplace success - great co-workers, recognition of accomplishments, and challenged workers.

Recognition at Simply Hired takes a four pronged appropach to show appreciation for a job well done:

  • Simply Thanks - Thank you cards are given to co-workers and read at staff meetings to show appreciation.
  • Bonuses - Bonuses are typically awarded after a project is completed, and aren't expected, and are given as a way for the company to provide a special thank you to employees.
  • Direct Feedback - Managers let employees know how they are doing on a regular basis.
  • Time With Company Leaders - Employees can spend one-on-one time with company leaders.

Dion mentioned that he spends time every Friday afternoon talking to colleagues about their weekend plans, families, and activities.   Connecting in person and showing personal appreciation makes a difference, too.

On the topic of connections, when you use Simply Hired to job search, you can view your LinkedIn Connections and your Facebook Friends at the companies whose job listings appear in your search results.  It's a great way to find a connection who might be able to help with your job search - before you even apply.

Thanks for the great post, it is nice to know there is a reliable source for finding job openings online. There are so many potentially hazardous sites when it comes to entering personal information that is is nice to have a good source for looking for an open veterinarian assistant position.

I really like the Facebook and LinkedIn feature on this site. That’s a great idea. How does the amount of listings compare with, say, a monster.com? Just curious.
