What you wear to a job interview matters. It really does. And it's more than just what you wear - walking into an interview, texting on your phone, drinking coffee, or chewing gum can knock you out of contention before you even get to answer an interview question.
When I asked about the worst interview outfits, I was a bit amazed at what people wear - and don't wear - to job interviews. By the way, a suit even made the list, from the overdressed for the company perspective. Other "what not to wear" interview clothes include dirty t-shirts, skimpy tank tops with bras showing in all the wrong places, a nice suit with not much underneath, bright green shoes, and flip-flops. The flip-flops, by the way, are on the list even if you're a teenager who never wears anything else on your feet.
It's important to know how not to dress for an interview and how you should dress for an interview, because that first impression really does make a big difference in whether you get considered for a second interview or a job offer.

I have been to quite a lot of interviews and noticed that I was among the very few people dressed for an interview. More often younger generation consider jeans and sport shoes as an ok outfit.Sad, what can I say?
