Hopeful Job Market News

Follow me on:

I was going to say good job market news, but I had the thought that hopeful might be a better term, since we're not close to a good job market yet. So, here's some hopeful news for job seekers in a difficult job market.

Job search engine SimplyHired recently released first quarter job trends and CEO Gautam Godhwani, CEO, says "Simply Hired is seeing some very encouraging trends among our active job listings, including an uptick in finance and accounting jobs."

The report also note that job postings in Washington D.C. were up by 14% and 5% in Boston and San Diego, which is at least a trend in the right direction.

On a similar positive note, ExeuNet's Executive Job Market Intelligence Report expects the executive job market to grow in the second half of the year, with health care, green, pharmaceuticals/medical/miotech, energy/utilities, and business services expected to have the most gains.

For entry level job seekers, CollegeGrad.com projects the second largest increase in college graduate hiring since 2005.

(1) Mike Lennon says:

Job seekers need to learn about the other economic indices you indicate. Focusing only on the stock market gets a lot of applicants depressed yet it doesn’t mean it has a bearing on whether or not they’ll get a job that day.
