How to Collect Unemployment
Have all the information you need at hand, so you can file your claim as expeditiously as possible. Requirements vary from state to state, but, at the least, you'll need contact information for your previous employers for the last two years, your social security number, your employer's Federal ID number, and your starting and ending dates of employment. If you're running out of your original unemployment benefits, you may be able to collect extended benefits. In some states, you will automatically be eligible for an extension. In others, you'll need to reopen your claim or refile.
